A lazy self-care list (because it’s 9:47pm and I’m tired)

A dog lays on a chair, very relaxed. Some might say lazy. Some might say it's a dog-version of me.

Look. It’s nearly 10pm on Wednesday night. I haven’t prepped a blog post. I’ve been busy, distracted, possibly lazy, and definitely unfocused (on the blog) this week.

This post? Not my best work. But it is a tiny act of self-care — because instead of skipping my regular posting schedule (which I haven’t missed all year, thankyouverymuch), I’m giving myself permission to show up imperfectly.

So here it is: a quick and slightly cheeky self-care list. Not because I’m trying to wow you with wisdom today, but because I’m honouring my commitment and my capacity. Sometimes, that’s the best kind of self-care there is.

7 lazy girl self-care wins that totally count (go ahead and lower your expectations)

1. Light a damn candle.
Because “setting the mood” sounds better than “trying not to lose it.”

2. Drink a glass of water.
Yes, it’s boring. Yes, it helps. You’re basically a houseplant with complicated emotions.

3. Say no.
To a plan, an email, a person, or an obligation. Protect your peace like it owes you money.

4. Moisturise something.
Your face, your hands, your left elbow. Doesn’t matter. The point is: you’re not cracking like a salt flat today.

5. Unfollow one account.
Cleanse that feed. It’s digital exfoliation.

6. Watch something that makes you laugh-snort.
Pure escapism. No shame.

7. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb.
Even if it’s just for 15 minutes. Blissful silence is the new luxury.

That’s it!

Not fancy. Not groundbreaking. But enough.

And enough is plenty tonight.

I’m off to bed.

Em x
